Why we use high-oleic sunflower oil We use high-oleic sunflower oil in our tortilla chips, which is naturally rich in oleic acid, the same heart-healthy fat found in olive oil. It is more stable when heated, it contains less omega-6 fat, it’s less processed and best of all, it doesn’t change the delicious flavour of our chips.
What are seed oils?
Seed oils are a type of vegetable oil extracted from seeds, most commonly rapeseeds and sunflower seeds. Their neutral taste and affordability makes them common in many food products.
These oils are typically rich in linoleic acid, a type of omega-6 fatty acid.
Seed oils have recently been the subject of debate, with some concerns about inflammation. However, not all seed oils are the same. High-oleic seed oils have a fatty acid profile closer to olive oil and are considered a better choice for both health and cooking stability.
High-oleic oil is harder to come by and more costly, but sourcing the finest ingredients has always been worth it to us. We care deeply about quality, which is why we’re proud to invest in the very best for our tortilla chips.
